Preparing to Dye Easter Eggs

Please come see our newly remodeled site! All of our newest activities will be available there!

New Design

To hard boil your Easter eggs:

Choose a pan that is large enough to cover your eggs completely with water. Be sure you choose a pan that has a lid.

Place eggs in bottom of a pan. Cover completely with cool water. Place on burner and bring to boil over high heat. Cover. Reduce heat. Simmer 15 minutes. Remove from heat. Drain water. Run eggs under cold water for several minutes until mostly cooled. Drain. Store eggs in refrigerator until ready to dye. Be sure that your eggs are completely dry before dying.

To make your own dye:

You will need:

  • Warm water
  • White vinegar
  • Food coloring
  • 8 ounce cups (one for each color)

Pour about 2/3 cup of warm water into each cup. Add 1 tablespoon white vinegar to each cup. Add food coloring to desired darkness (this may take up to 15 drops or 1/4 teaspoon of food coloring). Stir until color is well-blended.

Have fun dying your Easter eggs!
