Mrs. McNosh and the Great Big Squash is a silly, fun kid's book. It will truly make them laugh. The cover recommends "for ages 3 and up". (This book is part of the Harper Growing Tree which was developed by "early childhood experts.")
Mrs. McNosh and the Great Big Squash is about Mrs. Nelly McNosh who plants a squash. The squash takes off (unlike the plants I desperately try to grow). The squash grows and grows and grows. As a matter of fact, it "flattened the cat" and "ran over toes." In the end it is so large she has to figure out what she is going to with it!
The illustrations are fun and colorful. My favorite page has trash cans knocked over, the cat flattened, the hose flipping wildly, and two "gents" who are scared out of their pants. Sarah Weeks is not the most "accurate" of illustrators, but she has a fun style.
The great thing about this book is that it is entertaining for both parents and children.
