Junie B. Jones and some Sneaky Peeky Spying is a great, fun book for those kids with a little longer attention span. The Junie B. Jones series are approximately 70 pages with a few black and white illustrations. This is a book that adults may want to read to their children, as Barbara Park uses a lot of "made up" words, like a 'pology and bended (instead of bent), which are really hard for children just learning to read.
Junie B. Jones and some Sneaky Peaky Spying is about Junie B. Jones, not Junie or Junie Beatrice, but Junie B. - a cute, somewhat obnoxious child. She is really into the "spying" thing in this book. In the beginning she hides in the hamper and scares her Grandpa when he takes out his teeth (yes, all of them!). She catches her teacher (who she calls Mrs. - no last name) eating grapes at the store. You can hardly believe the trouble she gets into.
These books are really unique and a lot of fun to read. Sometimes I think they are more fun for the adults than the kids, although Barbara Park does a great job making these books entertaining for kids as well. At times, her subtle humor makes the kids ask "what is so funny?"
The detailed pictures are pretty comical as well. They add a great deal to the story. From the outfits Junie B. wears to the expressions on all the faces, are very entertaining. I've enjoyed every Junie B. Jones book I have read. Junie B. Jones and some Sneaky Peeky Spying, as well as any of the Junie B. Jones books, are well worth the price.
